“The Many” is a wonderful little book. It’s easy to see why it was long-listed for the Booker; Wyl Menmuir has done a great job here!
It’s difficult to talk about the book without giving anything away – so I’ve have to restrict myself to bland comments in terms of how well the sense of atmosphere is created, and how different perspectives are handled.
I think the title is really clever, by the way. “The Many” only makes sense – as a concept – when you see it in relation to something else; it only has any relevance when you can compare it to an alternative that gives it ‘size’ i.e. the many vs. the few, for example.
But you need to read the book for this to make sense too..!
