Completing the first revision of my new novel, “At Maunston Quay”, I was struck by how undeniably positive it was. One might even say ‘romantic’. Others might use less positive adjectives to demean what they may see as a saccharine viewpoint on life.
At a time when many modern novels present us with stories about relationships which are fractured or inconclusive, I make no apology that this new book is profoundly optimistic. You may argue the outcome is a little too neat, or even impossibly ‘complete’, but it is, after all, a fiction, and occasionally there is nothing wrong with a dose of the positive.
I can only hope, when it makes its bow in February next year, its Readers will embrace the message it tries to convey.
