Coming back to 17 Alma Road yesterday felt a little like greeting an old friend; there was something comfortable in working again on something I know and like, that I am happy with, that represents me and my writing. Perhaps it was that last – the connection – which I felt most strongly of all. Without doubt, the decision to re-edit sooner than I had planned was the correct one.
Which means I’ll be asked for advance copy readers fairly soon. One way I’ll do that is through my occasional Coverstory books newsletter – which was the other thing I worked on yesterday. Not too much left to do to have that ready to go out to my usual distribution list.
I also managed a quick read-through of Crash (not in ‘performance mode’) and a little bit of time on Twitter, where I’m trying to be a little more ‘active’ in order to see what effect that has on connections, stats, sales etc.
Based on yesterday’s experience I will undoubtedly work on 17 Alma Road again today. I tend to edit in c.10 page chunks, so may get through a couple of those. There’s a possibility of a Crash rehearsal this afternoon, but in any event, I’ll do a read-through this morning. Other than that, finish off and send out the newsletter.
