I would be lying if I didn’t confess to spending a chunk of yesterday thinking about today’s performance of Crash. In fact, I was probably thinking about it all day!
With that in mind, the work I managed to do was as much to take my mind off of something rather than apply my mind to something – if you see what I mean.
But I did get something non-Crash done.
Some editing of 17 Alma Road of course, and more of the short story I started a few days ago (and which should soon be coming to its conclusion I think). Nothing other than that.
And what about today?!
Well, there is only one thing isn’t there?
Officially the performance starts at 1pm, but I’ll get to the venue about 12 to start setting up. There is a trio on before me, and once they’ve finished I need to finish my set-up and get changed.
I expect I’ll start about 1:10.

I am fully expecting to be very nervous – but I’m also determined to enjoy the experience. It may be the only time I ever perform Crash, so I need to try and do it and myself justice.
We had nearly sold out of tickets by yesterday afternoon, so the organiser of the festival has added on another five – just in case. I expect to be facing an audience of c.25 in a confined space: a domed cellar! A small number of people will have travelled a considerable distance to be there. Hopefully the atmosphere will be good – and my voice will hold out!
Other than a silent read-through this morning – and perhaps a little Alma Road – I’m expecting that to be it for the day. Watch for the notices tomorrow!
