For a little while now I have been wondering whether or not I should start to compile a new collection of poetry – an ideal resurrected when I had a few embryonic ideas while out walking in Harlow Carr on Tuesday. So yesterday I started to pull together some of these idea just to see if there was anything coherent about them, whether they had potential. The bottom line is that it’s still too early to say.
During my day’s tinkering I also returned to a short story in order to finish it off. An inconsequential thing, I find myself wondering if it actually qualifies as a story… And I even returned to what I had drafted as the opening of ‘Z’.
That was an interesting experience as the narrative wasn’t as bad as I remembered it! I’m not sure that qualifies it as a project worth carrying on with, though it may suffice to keep my hand in while I await lightning striking (in terms of ideas).
Today‘s schedule is again blank, apart from an Open Mic this evening. This will see me return to the venue of my Crash performance on Saturday. I’ve absolutely no idea what I’ll read; probably dredge something up from my past…!
With the house move hopefully just a few weeks away, I am giving up my role as ‘Writer in Residence’ at the local library. Whether or not this remains a viable options somewhere once we’ve moved remains to be seen.
