Yesterday & Today: 2nd July

Yesterday I finally got round to something I’d been planning to do for about three weeks: namely recording Crash for my podcast. It wasn’t the same sitting at the desk reading it of course; I missed the movement and the action – some of which leant character to the ‘voices’ in the piece. And it was quicker too; perhaps some 6 minutes faster than when I performed it.

See what you think. You can find it here. Or check-out yesterday’s post.

I also managed to get some ‘Z’ drafted. At 23k words, I’m a little over 20% of the way through, my current projection sitting at 98k. It occurs to me that the tone or ‘voice’ is probably consistent with other things I’ve written, but stylistically it’s a little different. Whether this – and the strength of plot – is sufficient to see me through to the end, only time will tell.

I have over 180 poems and pieces of short-prose for New Contexts: 5, and the selection process has to start. Whether or not that will be today I’m not sure. Having said that, ‘Z’ and NC:5 are my only live projects just at the minute – other than starting to fill the house with packed boxes! I’m looking forward to packing up my study; mainly because it will signal the move, but almost as lucrative is their unpacking and the establishing of a new working environment. Can’t wait!
