Just about the only writing-related thing I did yesterday was to start reading the prose submissions for New Contexts: 5. I suspect it’s going to take me longer than I thought to get through these… And then I have to cycle back and revisit all the items I put in my ‘long-list’ in order to make a binary decision about each of them.
Having said that, the end of July still looks achievable to get through this part of the process. After that..?
Well it could be that NC:5 is the only thing I work on as we now have a date for our move! So it will be full steam ahead for all the packing etc. I will probably need to take a break from hosting the Contextual poetry readings (plus one or two other things) until September as a result.
Now it gets real.
So some more NC:5 reading today is perhaps the most I can hope for – though I could always surprise myself. These are the days when a trip to the dump takes precedence over writing another 500 words to a WIP…
By the way, feedback on Once Significant Others received from an Agent yesterday (even though it wasn’t for them): “I think you’ve got something here”…
