…because it’s like some vast goldfish bowl where millions of small fish are desperately trying to get to the very few crumbs of food that are thrown on the surface from time to time…
…because people are competitive – in a nice way, usually – about the number of followers they have: “I have 1,800”, “I have 2,600”, “I have 10k friends”…
…because I suspect that claims for ‘community’ are little more than a chimera to which people attach themselves in the hope of getting more food / more followers…
…because there is so much talking and so little listening…
…because a computer algorithm has control over what you see – and you can never know what you are missing out on…
…because in some ways it’s a microcosm of living in the 21st century…
