Putting pen to paper – w/c 11th September

So, here we go. ‘Back in the saddle’ as they say.

Rather than revert to an entry a day (“been there, done that”) I thought I might try and keep myself honest by previewing the week ahead – and then in seven days’ time looking back to see how I got on.

It’s all about keeping myself honest and motivated; a kind of public holding-to-account if you will.

So, in terms of writing-related events and writing itself, what does the next week hold?

  • Meetings and Events –
    • A ‘Cafe Writers’ book launch and open mic (hopefully with a reading slot) via Zoom;
    • September’s Derby ‘Stanza’ meeting;
    • attending my first session of a fortnightly local poetry group (in Louth) to see if it’s for me;
    • being interviewed for a slot on a Californian-based podcast [yes, I know!!];
    • attending my first session of a monthly creative writing group (in Lincoln), again to see if it’s for me.
  • Writing projects –
    • continue the final revisions of 17 Alma Road;
    • final edit of a short story – His small existence – in readiness for competition entry;
    • initial drafting of two short stories (subjects known but titles not) again in readiness for competition entry;
    • seeing if I can get any further in drafting the beginning of a slightly futuristic/dystopian story (let’s call it “V”);
    • trying to work on some new poems.
  • Coverstory books –
  • Sundries –
    • defining my mentoring programme for the remainder of the year.

When you put it like that, it seems like a busy week. Better get started!
