So, here we go. ‘Back in the saddle’ as they say.
Rather than revert to an entry a day (“been there, done that”) I thought I might try and keep myself honest by previewing the week ahead – and then in seven days’ time looking back to see how I got on.
It’s all about keeping myself honest and motivated; a kind of public holding-to-account if you will.
So, in terms of writing-related events and writing itself, what does the next week hold?
- Meetings and Events –
- A ‘Cafe Writers’ book launch and open mic (hopefully with a reading slot) via Zoom;
- September’s Derby ‘Stanza’ meeting;
- attending my first session of a fortnightly local poetry group (in Louth) to see if it’s for me;
- being interviewed for a slot on a Californian-based podcast [yes, I know!!];
- attending my first session of a monthly creative writing group (in Lincoln), again to see if it’s for me.
- Writing projects –
- continue the final revisions of 17 Alma Road;
- final edit of a short story – His small existence – in readiness for competition entry;
- initial drafting of two short stories (subjects known but titles not) again in readiness for competition entry;
- seeing if I can get any further in drafting the beginning of a slightly futuristic/dystopian story (let’s call it “V”);
- trying to work on some new poems.
- Coverstory books –
- PR for the short story anthology submission call and this months’ Contextual.
- Sundries –
- defining my mentoring programme for the remainder of the year.
When you put it like that, it seems like a busy week. Better get started!
