Time to look back / forward. How did I get on last week?
- Meetings and Events –
- A ‘Cafe Writers’ book launch and open mic – YES
- September’s Derby ‘Stanza’ meeting – YES
- attending a local poetry group – YES, but the ‘group’ proved to be just me and the organiser!
- being interviewed for a slot on a Californian-based podcast – YES (interview will air on New Year’s Eve)
- attending my first session of a monthly creative writing group (in Lincoln) – YES
- Writing projects –
- continue the final revisions of 17 Alma Road – YES
- final edit of a short story – His small existence – YES
- initial drafting of two short stories – YES
- seeing if I can get any further in drafting the beginning of a slightly futuristic/dystopian story (let’s call it “V”) – NO
- trying to work on some new poems – NO
- Coverstory books –
- PR for the short story anthology submission call and this months’ Contextual – YES
- Sundries –
- defining my mentoring programme for the remainder of the year – NO (though this one was out of my control)
So nine out of twelve, or 75%. I think that’s a pretty fair attempt.

So, in terms of writing-related events and writing itself, what does the next week hold?
- Meetings and Events –
- a Society of Authors’ workshop on writing audio drama (via Zoom);
- attending a book launch event (via Zoom);
- attending a reading by Red Door Poets (via Zoom).
- Writing projects –
- continue the final revisions of 17 Alma Road;
- final edit of two short stories (drafted last week) in readiness for competition entry;
- initial drafting of a new short story (title known but subject not..!);
- seeing if I can get any further in drafting the beginning of “V”;
- trying to work on some new poems.
- Coverstory books –
- Processing entires as they come in for the short story anthology submission call.
- Sundries –
- (c/f) defining my mentoring programme for the remainder of the year.
