Putting pen to paper – w/c 16th October

Time to look back / forward. How did I get on last week?

  • Meetings and Events –
    • host Derby Stanza; YES
    • attend Lincoln Creative Writers’ meeting. YES
  • Writing projects –
    • start drafting a new short story; YES
    • continue working on Bound; YES
    • work on Character profiles and timelines for the possible futuristic novel; NO
    • recording seven more sonnets for ‘Sonnet Man’; YES
    • trying to work on some new poems. SORT OF…
    • spent two hours taking photos at Grimsby docks as a basis for some potential new poems – NEW
  • Coverstory books –
    • processing submissions as they come in for the Short Story collection and New Contexts: 6. YES
    • produced the draft cover for NC:6 – NEW
  • Sundries –
    • meeting the reporter for ‘The Rasen Mail’. Postponed a week

The Grimsby Dock photography section was very interesting. I think I have some good visual material with which to work. And delighted with the cover for NC:6!

So, in terms of writing-related events and writing itself, what does the next week hold?

  • Meetings and Events –
    • mentoring full-time at a writers’ retreat Monday & Tuesday;
    • attend an SoA event on the subject of Substack;
    • attend a Zoom launch of three new collections of poetry;
    • attend 1-to-3 events at the Alliance of Independent Authors annual conference.
  • Writing projects –
    • continue drafting one or more short stories;
    • continue working on Bound;
    • recording seven more sonnets for ‘Sonnet Man’;
    • trying to work on some new poems (most likely based on Grimsby Docks).
  • Coverstory books –
    • processing submissions as they come in for the Short Story collection and New Contexts: 6.
  • Sundries –
    • meeting the reporter for ‘The Rasen Mail’.
