After the relative cut-and-thrust of Wednesday, yesterday was pretty much back to normal: chunks of effort of various sizes on Tilt, “C”, poetry, retreat preparation, and some residual Ripon Writers’ Group stuff in the wake of our poetry exercise…
I understand that poetry isn’t to everyone’s taste – but neither is prose for others. So there’s a fine line we need to tread to ensure we cater for all. Enough said.
The most significant chunk of time went on a planned Crash full run-through – which I then followed later by just reading half of it (without the ‘performance’). I think that could be the model going forward.
We’ve had some unseasonal weather overnight which points to a day spent in the study by the fire which I’ve already got going! So I expect today to be a little like yesterday – though without so much Crash..
The most important thing will be to ensure that I’m all ready for the 4-day writers’ retreat tomorrow: that means having the timetable ready, the workshop materials prepared, knowing what we will do in the evenings after dinner etc. As it’s the first retreat at Jan’s new venue, it should be exciting!
