A really busy day yesterday with two highlights. The first was being able to have a full read-through of Crash with Andy, and the second was having Julia Usman as guest reader at Ripon Writers’ Group talking about – and reading from – her autobiographical book, A Little Country.
It was clear that Julia’s book and history resonated with members of the group, and it prompted many conversations about shared acquaintances or past experiences when growing up in the Yorkshire countryside.
A volume heartily recommended if you are interested in social history.
And the day wasn’t just about Ripon Writers’ Group or Crash (which I also read through myself in the morning!) ; I managed to spend a chunk of time working on the covers related to my spring publication bonanza, plus some further work drafting “C”.
All of which probably means that today will be something of a damp squib, though the focus will be in the same three areas: “C”, book preparation, and Crash. For the latter, Andy has given me homework and asked me to try and read it without moving (I tend to be a bit fidgety on stage) – so that should be a challenge!
