A very modest day yesterday, as expected, with “C” the focus of what work I was able to fit in. I’ve started writing a little after dinner in the evening – something I normally don’t do – and am finding it a very productive time. Yesterday evening, for example, I drafted 776 words in 30 minutes. Those words will get a very light edit today before I try to add to them. That’s the rhythm I try to adopt: draft A / light edit A – draft B / light edit B (repeat).
Of course that number of words in that time period more than anything else demonstrates how engaged I am with the characters about whom I’m writing. If I wasn’t interested I would be anywhere near as productive.
All of which gives the game away about today: more work on “C”. The next few episodes focus on building out the fourth and final key character in the narrative before returning my attention to the first three. At the moment “C” is planned to weigh-in at around 75k words.
Other than that, the rest of the day looks a bit foggy (creatively speaking, not meteorologically). I should probably read through Crash again in advance of Wednesday (tomorrow being a library and Write-on Ripon day).
