Yesterday & Today: 15th April

The most rewarding elements of the retreat yesterday came after the ‘Character Building’ workshop when at least three of the attendees tried out my character profiling suggestion on their works-in-progress. They said they found the exercise very useful, and that the profiles will help them build their final stories.

That really as all I could ask for. In the evening I read a poem and a couple of short stories – “Park’n’Ride” and “Downsizing” – which are a good length and always seem to go down well.

A little work on “C” filled out the rest of the day.

Today there are two workshops: ‘Dialogue & Monologue’ and ‘Planning’. It would be great to get the same kind of response as yesterday. Interspersed with those are some more 1-2-1s – and the final workshop may well be followed by a group viewing of the Grand National! This evening it’s the turn of the attendees to read something of their own, and hopefully most of them will.

If I get a suitable slot I’ll try and do a little of my own work, but time’s tighter today…
