Yesterday & Today: 15th May

In a very bitty day yesterday the most significant thing I did was to continue working on the 14 character profiles I initiated on retreat last week. If you recall, this was an attempt to settle on my next project by defining characters I might like to write about – and then subsequently wrap a plot around them.

Yesterday’s activity was centred on trying to identify the ‘plot points’ that would need to be written.

These might be true plot points (i.e. ‘action’) or alternatively where I need to highlight something about someone’s characteristics or their history, ambition, and so forth. In the end there were more than 280 of these – which smacks of a big book!

The next step on the journey is to start to flesh out the plot proper – including timelines – and to see how I feel about the prospect then… It is still entirely possibly that very little will come of this activity.

Anyway, I may get to start that today, but once again it will be a day where ‘life’ takes over – mainly move-related stuff.
